Brad Newman

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indian River State College and a Master of Taxation from Florida Atlantic University. I received my Certified Government Finance Officer designation from the FGFOA in October of 2021 and CPA License in August of 2025.

My journey in the finance field began as an unpaid intern at the tax collector's office, where I demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and contributing to the organization. In 2016, I transitioned into the role of Finance Clerk, leveraging newfound knowledge from completing my bachelor's degree.

Over the years, I have consistently excelled in my roles, progressing from Finance Clerk to Senior Finance Clerk and eventually to Assistant Finance Director. This ascent reflects my dedication to continuous improvement and my ability to take on increasingly complex responsibilities within the finance domain.

In December 2021, I achieved a significant milestone in my career by assuming the position of Finance Director. In this leadership role, I am responsible for overseeing and optimizing financial operations for Indian River County, ensuring fiscal responsibility and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

My journey from an unpaid intern to Finance Director is a testament to my passion for finance, my commitment to professional development, and my ability to deliver results in progressively challenging roles.
